journey into mosaics started out as an escape from the demands of a highly successful commercial art business. Her day job as a digital pet portrait artist keeps her very busy and yet in 2007 she desperately needed a distraction away from the computer and away from the pressure of creating on demand to meet tight gift giving deadlines enforced upon her by her patrons. A summer class at the Dallas Creative Arts center started a passion for mosaics and got her out of her digital studio where she was able to work along side other mosaic artists. Rebecca Collins Plays with Squid- She loves playing with squid, octopus and cephalopods of all type. Her mosaic subjects include squid, bugs, astronauts, birds and yes dogs. Rebecca enjoys experimenting with a variety of subjects and yet octopus and squid will always call to her. She feels they are the perfect subject for an artist as they are begging to be abstracted and reinvented.
Rebecca Collins Slams Pixels - Using a wacom drawing tablet and photoshop Rebecca creates colorful digital paintings of dogs & cats for a devoted group of pet lovers. Her painterly style of playing with pixels is a unique approach to digital art. Rebeccas smudges and paints with pixels pushing the boundaries of photoshop. In 1998 she founded artpaw.com and began offering customized pet portraits created from regular old snapshots. More than a full time job, Art Paw has totally changed Rebecca's life and opened up unlimited possibility for her, bringing amazing like minded people into her world.
